RINGER HERVE

A self-taught artist with an almost Stakhanovite output, he has, year after year, laid the foundations of a rich body of work, based on energetic compositions, on canvas or paper. A singular bestiary parades through it, halfway between the paintings of the COBRA group and Jean-Michel BASQUIAT.

Since his entry into the art world, his original works have found their way onto the walls of discerning collectors. He was noticed by Inès de La FRESSANGE, whose favorite painter he is. He has also managed to captivate dozens of enthusiasts, won over by a simple crush on the spontaneity of the playful atmospheres of his universe.

A spontaneity which, while still very much present in Hervé RINGER's painting, is now giving way to deeply worked material effects on canvases of larger formats than in the past. This evolution was made possible by his recent move into a "real studio" on the outskirts of Paris, replacing his tiny den in the Goutte d'Or.

Hervé RINGER is uncompromising with the canvas, accepting accidents, dirt, and movements of matter as they occur. This is how he achieves raw emotion and manages to transcribe it in all its violence. The artist also knows how to play with the strong feelings that emerge on the surface of the canvas. Thus, he ridicules his painting by adding classical figures or evocations of cartoon characters.
