NOTY AROZ

Lucas and Sylvain, also known as Noty&Aroz, met in elementary school. From high school on, a shared passion for drawing led them to take over an abandoned farmhouse where they expressed their creativity on the walls for months, until its definitive closure. Thrown out, they finally remained on the street and found there the best medium for their artistic frenzy!

Their Mythologeny series is a clever blend of graphic creation, diverse techniques, and reflection on our current society. The artists express the feeling of a youth losing stable benchmarks and strong figures, unlike Gainsbourg or Bob Marley for the previous generation, who find themselves united around contemporary heroes from the world of American comics. Batman, Iron Man, the figure of Scream or Star Wars, heroes or anti-heroes, all carrying a strong message. Noty&Aroz place these figures within the original context of beliefs specific to each culture.

Buddhism, Egyptian culture, Native Americans, Mexican beliefs... A striking blend then appears where contemporary characters are imbued with history, with cultural weight to explain their importance in our present time.

Continually striving for perfection and following a plan known only to them, Noty&Aroz convey their message by sticking their stencils on the walls of Paris and many European cities (Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Madrid, Krakow...).
