It was on the benches of the Faculty of Medicine in Rouen that MO.X made his first sketches with a BIC pen. As he explains, spending his days copying, recopying, and recopying his lessons until he knew them by heart, his BIC pen, which became his most faithful object, itched to trace something other than letters…

Always passionate about drawing, he was greatly influenced by the world of street art and underground culture, where he found his first sources of inspiration, particularly for portraiture. It was thus once he had passed the first-year medical school entrance exam that he developed his unique style.

Always curious to try different techniques, he experimented with stenciling, freehand graffiti, collage, and oil painting. Very attached, even sometimes infatuated, with the people he meets, he bases his graffiti on portraits he makes of those around him.

MO.X's common objective for each of his works is to convey a strong expression, an emotion that he strives to reproduce precisely, without, however, seeking a hyperrealistic result. To find a clear feeling within a work with traits that sometimes give an almost random impression.

He therefore works on shadows, reliefs, facial lines, and the intensity of gazes. The sensations felt in front of the work can vary from person to person. It is this finality that allows him to reach a wide audience and that maintains his creativity. The BIC pen plays an increasingly important role in his creations, revolving around more or less famous models from different worlds: music, cinema, politics, history, and travel, which are the artist's favorite themes.
