Catherine Bailey, a professionally trained artist, has been dedicated to sculpture, painting, and teaching both in her studio in Val de Marne for over 20 years. For Catherine Bailey, this is the 24th year of exploring volume, which has given birth to this new, stripped-down yet emotionally charged style. Catherine has worked with various materials to focus on metal, which offers her its resistance and constraints, with which the artist plays to better reveal, by contrast, her childlike soul. Catherine chooses to explore childhood for its ability to awaken the universal emotion that dwells within everyone. Other subjects evoking human tenderness in captured moments maintain an elegant appearance, with the complicity of metal and the simplicity of humanity, which hopes and strives for its best self. Her painting breathes matter and movement, and her sculptural practice is very present within it. Catherine chooses to work on the theme of the human group, couples or multiple figures always on the move, seen from behind, who express life and the interdependence of each individual.
