KARO TRASS

Karo Trass's graphic world is full of contrasts. Her faces are minimalist. Often in two or three colors, they are set against a very two-dimensional background, often composed of several stencils, sometimes repeated in the same painting. As Marie Rouffet said: "Apposition. Repetition!" That is the soul of stenciling.

Karo Trass enjoys using the stencil for what it is, a tool for reproducing a motif. She draws her own motifs, thereby moving away from the photos that inspire her. This is why her style is immediately recognizable.

Her freedom of tone and composition, the manifestly spontaneous aspect of her work, allows for a return to the playful and underground nature of stenciling.
